More and more webhosts are going green these days. Well, pretty much everyone is trying to go green these days. Hearing about all this is really starting to piss me off! I can’t stand paying over $3 a gallon for gas, however is going green in everything really the answer? For instance, to create a hybrid car, it takes as much oil as powering 100 H2 hummers for a week! Also, when people buy hybrids it implies that they do alot of driving. They may drive more and actually end up paying the same amount for gas as they would with their non-hybrid.
Anyways, alot of webhosts these days are going “green”. The reason I am writing about this is simply because I noticed my webhost, Dreamhost, is actually 100% green, and I can’t believe this whole green thing is coming to the internet (and that is blog is a “green blog”). (Also, I just felt like writing a blog post that has nothing to do with internet marketing) Some webhosts are going as far as completely powering their own energy with windmills and solar panels on site!
Here is a short excerpt of Dreamhosts “We’re green” page: “DreamHost is carbon neutral. We’ve calculated the impact of everything that DreamHost uses and leaves behind in the course of our daily work. All of the resources that we use - paper in the office, electricity for our servers, even the gas in our cars that bring us to the office - leaves behind some kind of soul-sucking residue in the world. When we learned that running DreamHost generated as much carbon dioxide as 545 average-size homes we realized we had to do something to neutralize our emissions.
With a bit of research we found the most effective approach begins with resource conservation: turning off the lights, reducing travel, printing on both sides of the page. Efforts are being ramped up here daily to do what we do with less. The next step is to use clean, renewable energy. Without the option to put up solar panels or connect with a green power utility for us this means purchasing Renewable Energy Credits. Finally, to neutralize those unavoidable emissions we’ve invested in Emission Reduction Credits (a.k.a. “offsets”) which guarantee our remaining impact is effectively erased. A third-party-certification? Never fear. The credits we use to green our energy consumption and neutralize the rest of our emissions meet the highest standards in the industry.“
Either way, I think it is weird that this is coming online. What do you think about webhosts going green? Subscribe in a reader
If you an affiliate marketer, and insurance offers is your niche, then LinkValu is for you. They have all the best insurance and cash advance offers out there, many exclusive.
I was contacted by one of their AM’s and signed up. One thing to know about them is how helpful the AM’s are. I hate big networks where the AM’s really don’t care, but it is obvious these guys do. Have not run anything yet however plan to in the near future. Insurance offers is one of the most competitive costly niche’s to get into in terms of search marketing, however it has some of the highest ROI’s if you know what you’re doing!
More recently, they have been featured in Inc. Magazines top 5000 fastest growing new businesses.
“LinkValu.com Affiliate Network (www.LinkValu.com) was named to the Inc. 5,000 list for 2007, with a sales growth rate of 314.1% during the qualifying period. The Inc. 5,000, an extension of Inc. magazine’s annual Inc. 500 list, catches many businesses that are too big to grow at the pace required to make the Inc. 500, as well as a host of smaller firms. Taken as a whole, these companies represent the backbone of the U.S. economy.
LinkValu.com is a CPA Affiliate Network focusing on financial B-2-C offers, many in life, health and automobile insurance. LinkValu.com’s expertise lies in attracting exclusive advertiser offers that are promoted by affiliates who specialize in driving traffic to the advertisers’ websites resulting in an action, such as a lead or sale. LinkValu.com is poised for continued growth as more and more consumer’s research, shop and buy financial products over the internet.“
In the Google obsessed world that we live in, every webmaster wants to rank highly in Google search results for their specific keywords. Google modifies their algorithm when people figure out new ways to beat the system. [more recently with the whole selling links thing]
First off, I don’t understand why people are so obsessed with pagerank. You will notice this blog has no pagerank, however I am still ranking decent in Google search results for some keywords. Why did webmasters want higher pagerank before the Google slap? Because it made their links more valuable. But now people “can’t” sell links or advertise that they are selling links without getting slapped. Which makes you wonder if getting slapped really even matters anymore because you can’t sell links anyways….
But back to the topic on SEO friendly webhosts. I read an article in Website Magazine by Lloyd Brown, and it talked about optimizing your site with SEO friendly hosting. To tell you the truth I had no idea this even mattered, shows you how good of a SEO expert I am…
In the article it states that if you are running multiple websites in the same niche, you have two options. If you don’t want a dedicated server, you could simply host sites on different web hosting companies. Or you could host on a C-Class webhost. By doing this, it gives the search engines the impression that you are hosting across multiple webhosts.
Only 3% of websites are on dedicated IP’s, however it is documented that moving your website from a shared IP to a dedicated IP will significantly increase your rankings in the search engines. I never knew this, so maybe I sound like an idiot for blogging about it, but it is news to me
If your looking for C-class hosting, check out www.gotwebhost.comas this is the company Lloyd Brown owns. Also, check out the article in Website Magazine, as I just summarized it up.
This is pretty cool. Noticed it on a few sites in the sphere so I thought I would add it to the videos section. It is done by a man named moserious, who works for a SEM company, and also owns his own entertainment company. Check out his blog at moserious.blogspot.com!
These have been going on forever, and I can’t help but laugh every time I get one. I feel bad for the people who actually think that this is real and get scammed into it. I mean look at the contact email address… it is a hotmail address. You would think that a company giving away tons of money would at least have their own domain right? I thought I would post the email I got just for fun.

Mark over at 45n5.com has launched his latest project, ShowYourAdHere.com. I personally love this idea and wish I would have thought of it.
You know all those different recent blog visitor widget you see? Well they do take up space, and you are not making any money from them. Mark has solved this problem. He has combined a blog visitor widget along with the ability to monetize that area.
Basically you display a widget which in my opinion looks great. You have your recent visitors on one side and the bloggers standard 125×125 ad spot on the right hand side. People do look at the recent visitor areas, so obviously this will attract advertisers.
I think it is a perfect idea! I would love to see a vertical widget as I can’t fit the current one into my blogs sidebar. Another complaint that he is catching hell for is the design of the site. It does need work however it seems he is taking care of that this week per his recent video blog post. I hope this works out for him as he has some stiff competition.
I hate the Patriots with a passion, even before they got caught cheating. When they got caught cheating…it was just icing on the cake for me. I can’t say I like the Giants either, but in this situation I was all for New York.
One thing this super bowl really proved to the world is how much of an asshole Bill Belichick is. He leaves the field before the game is over….how sportsmanlike of him. If for some reason you didn’t watch it, well Brady’s pass was incomplete on 4th down, so it was a turnover on downs. However since the pass was incomplete it stopped the clock, leaving one second left. After this, Bill Belichick just starts running to the center of the field to shake the hand of Giants head coach Tom Coughlin. The funny thing is…they have to run another play for the game to end and there are tons of people on the field and most of the Patriots are just walking off to the locker room. Sore losers? Yes.
I thought the commercials this year were great! I remember last year they showed a bunch of commercials that weren’t new or anything or they had them running before the Super Bowl. I liked how this year I had never seen any of them before. I’m not one of those people who watches the game just for the commercials, as I love football, however they are fun to watch for anyone. My favorite had to be the e-trade baby!
So what did you think of Bill Belichick leaving the game early? What was your favorite commercial?
